Tarlton and Son encapsulated a 3-story 90,910 sf steel structure with interior and exterior metal studs, including the entire roof structure rafters, joisting, fascia, as well as a nearly 70’ tall tower. The interior had upwards of 250,000 sf of taped, finished and painted interior drywall walls & ceiling surfaces, including all fire safing at head of wall, and the painting at countless HM doors, frames, and window assemblies. The Exterior consisted of setting all the required scaffold for over 71,000 sf of wall surface for the exterior cladding, which encompassed a Sto Powerwall CI Inbound System including a 2” Rmax XPS board followed by 5/8 Glassmat sheathing in preparation for over 8,400 yards of wall and ceiling plaster. The Sto Powerwall CI system included Sto liquid applied barrier, followed with Fortifiber HydroTex for added drainage, Structa Mega Lath, over 26,000 lf Cemco and Stockton plaster trims, including both vertical and horizontal drift joints, followed by a 7/8 scratch and brown plaster system using Quikrete plaster and their silo system, then covered with a Sto acrylic base and mesh, providing a crack shield, followed by an acrylic modified cementitious smooth trowel finish. Decorative elements accented the eaves, bridge walkways, pop outs, columns, and arches with mechanically fastened GFRC corbels and finials. Adhesively applied foam shapes were installed at the 70’ tall tower and wall ledge shelf at the 3rd floor to enhance the overall design. Painting concluded this process over the entire exterior surface with 3 colors for a uniform finished appearance that could be maintained for years to come, by the Santa Maria School District.
